RULES AND REGULATIONS

GENERAL RULES FOR ALL 4 CATEGORIES

– The deadline for all entries is 17 March 2024.
– Pianists should send recordings via Youtube or Vimeo link (see application form).
– A free choice, but well-balanced program showing different musical and technical abilities will be taken in account by the jury.
– Recordings should date from after 17 March 2023 (not older than 1 year by the competition entry deadline).
– Individual works should be recorded in one take, but it is allowed to submit a program from different recording sessions/concerts. Combining these recordings and sending it as one link is preferable.
– The recording of one or more movements of a sonata, suite etc. will be allowed. Concerto movements will not be accepted.
– A complete application consists of: 1) Application form 2) Recording link 3) Proof of Identity 4) Profile photo 5) Application fee 6) Letter of consent by parent/guardian (for applicants of 15 years and under).
– Incomplete or late entries will not be accepted.
– Candidates will be notified of the receipt of their application and payment.
– The application fee is non-refundable.
– ArtePiano reserves the rights to use any recording for social media purposes or to upload recordings onto the ArtePiano Youtube Channel.

FURTHER RULES – CATEGORY A (online)

– Open to all pianists of 11 years and under.
– Eligible competitors should not be older than 11 years by the application deadline (17 March 2024).
– Application fee: 40 Euro.
– A signed self-written or typed letter from parent/guardian MUST be included in the application, giving permission for 1) participation 2) ArtePiano to upload your video to the ArtePiano website and Youtube channel. The letter should then be uploaded as part of the application pack (an image screenshot is also permitted).
– Participants should send a video recording of maximum 10 minutes.
– Recordings can include various works from any classical music style period (Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Contemporary).
– The winner, runners-up and finalists will be announced online during the month of May 2024.
– All prize winners and finalists will receive an official certificate as proof of their participation in the competition.
– The winner will be awarded a 300 Euro cash prize, as well as an invitation to perform in the prize winners concert during the International ArtePiano Festival in Castelnuovo di Farfa, Italy, in 2025.

FURTHER RULES – CATEGORY B (online)

– Open to all pianists between the ages of 12 – 15 years.
– Eligible competitors should not be younger than 12 years, or older than 15 years by the application deadline (17 March 2024).
– Application fee: 45 Euro.
– A signed self-written or typed letter from parent/guardian MUST be included in your application, giving permission for 1) participation 2) ArtePiano to upload your video to the ArtePiano website and Youtube channel. The letter should then be uploaded as part of the application pack (image screenshot is also permitted).
– Pianists should send a video recording of maximum 13 minutes.
– Recordings can include various works from any classical music style period (Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Contemporary).
– The winner, runners-up and finalists will be announced online during the month of May 2024.
– All prize winners and finalists will receive an official certificate as proof of their participation in the competition.
– The winner will be awarded a 400 Euro cash prize, as well as an invitation to perform in the prize winners concert during the International ArtePiano Festival in Castelnuovo di Farfa, Italy, in 2025.

FURTHER RULES – CATEGORY C

– Open to all pianists between the ages of 16 – 30 years.
– Eligible competitors should not be younger than 16 years, or older than 30 years by the application deadline (17 March 2024).
– Application fee: 70 Euro.
– This category will consist of 2 rounds.
– The first round will be held online.
– The names of the 6 finalists will be announced online during the month of May 2024.
– The final round will be held on the 19th of July 2024 as part of the International ArtePiano Festival in Castelnuovo di Farfa in Italy.
– Video recordings for the first round can include works (at least two) from any classical music style period. The recording should not exceed 17 minutes in duration.
– Finalists should present a free choice, but well-balanced program of maximum 25 minutes for the live final round. One work can be included from the first round, but it is not obligatory.
-Free accommodation for two nights will be provided for all finalists in Castelnuovo di Farfa during the competition finals.
– The winner will receive a 2000 Euro cash prize and a solo piano recital during the International ArtePiano Festival in July 2025.
– The runner-up will be awarded a cash prize of 1000 Euro.
– ⁠An Audience Prize worth 150 Euro  will be awarded to a candidate from Category C who receives the most “likes” on the ArtePiano YouTube channel.
– Voting for the Audience Prize will open on 19 April 2024.
– The winner of the Audience Prize will be announced on the 19th of May 2024 when the names of the 6 finalists will be made public on the ArtePiano competition page.
– All prize winners and finalists will receive an official certificate as proof of their participation in the competition.

FURTHER RULES – CATEGORY D: 2 PIANOS and/or 4 HANDS:

– Open to all pianists between the ages of 16 – 33 years.
– Eligible competitors should not be younger than 16 years, or older than 33 years by the application deadline (17 March 2024). An exception will be made if the combined age of the duo is 16 years and higher.
– Application fee: 90 Euro.
– This category will consist of 2 rounds.
– The first round will be held online.
– The names of the finalists will be announced online during the month of May 2024.
– The final round will be held on the 17th of July 2024 as part of the International ArtePiano Festival in Castelnuovo di Farfa in Italy.
– Video recordings for the first round can include works (at least two) from any classical music style period. The recording should not exceed 17 minutes in duration.
– The program can consist of repertoire for either 2 pianos, 4 hands, or a combination of both.
– Finalists should present a free choice, but well-balanced program of maximum 30 minutes for the live final round. One work can be included from the first round, but it is not obligatory.
– Free accommodation for two nights will be provided for all finalists in Castelnuovo di Farfa during the competition finals.
– The winners will receive a 1500 Euro cash prize, as well as an invitation to perform in the prize winners concert during the International ArtePiano Festival in Castelnuovo di Farfa, Italy, in 2025.
– All prize winners and finalists will receive an official certificate as proof of their participation in the competition.
